Missouri is blessed with many native fruits, but none as tasty and potentially profitable as the American Persimmon and Pawpaw. The class will discuss including persimmon and pawpaw in agroforestry and permaculture, selection of a good site for growing these trees, choosing the best cultivars, establishing orchards, growing the crop, potential challenges, harvest and postharvest handling, and marketing the delicious fruit. The instructor is University of Missouri Extension horticulture field specialist Patrick Byers.
