Update on Tom Watkins Community Farm

The Tom Watkins Community Farm is moving right along, under the guidance of Dan Bigbee of Fassnight Creek Farm and his apprentices, Derek Smith and Elizabeth Thorpe. In fact, Global Harvest Organics has just donated roughly five tons of organic fertilizer to help the process.

The Bermuda grass and torrential downpours have been a bit of a challenge for Farmer Dan and his apprentices. Somehow, though, they have managed to plant several rows of tomatoes and in four weeks look forward to planting for the fall harvest.

Dan is learning organic waste to eradicate the Bermuda grass and looking forward to the cooler weather slowing down its growth.
